Stephen Curry’s father Dell was an All-Star point guard who played sixteen seasons in the NBA. Stephen is a no mather for him and his dad clashed on multiple occasions about how to coach or manage his son growing up.
Stephen Curry has turned into the finest shooter in NBA history throughout his 13-year tenure with the Golden State Warriors. Because of Steph’s unrestricted range and precision, the game of basketball is played differently.
Seth, Steph’s brother, is a sharpshooter for the Philadelphia 76ers. But they weren’t the first Currys to hit three-pointers in the NBA.
Dell, their father, was a sharpshooter throughout the 1990s.
But who is the superior shooter in terms of statistics? Which is more important: Steph or his father?
Dell Curry spent 16 seasons as a journeyman marksman.

The Utah Jazz selected Dell as the 15th overall choice in the 1986 NBA Draft. He was a member of the NBA for more than a decade and a half.
He only stayed with the Jazz for one season before heading to Cleveland. At the age of 24, he moved to Charlotte, where he stayed for the following ten years.
The Hornets’ Dell Curry jersey is the most well-known of all the Dell Curry jerseys. He appeared in 701 games with Charlotte, starting 77 of them, and averaging 25.1 minutes each night.
Dell scored 14.0 points a game during that time period and shot 40.5 percent from three on 3.3 tries per game.
In 1993-94, he was named NBA Sixth Man of the Year and placed in the top 20 in 3-pointers made four times.

Dell doesn’t compare to his youngest kid, despite shooting more than 40% from three over the course of a 16-year career.
Steph has an edge in the following areas, according to LandofBasketball.com:
- Percentage of field goals (47.6-45.7)
- 3-percentage point (43.3-40.2)
- Percentage of free throws (90.8-84.3)
- Per-game points (24.3-11.7)
- (19,071 – 12,670) total points
Dell averaged 2.9 triples a game in his career, shooting 40.2 percent.
Steph has a lifetime shooting percentage of 43.2 percent, averaging 8.7 three-pointers a game.
Steph also has two MVPs and three titles to her name. Dell wasn’t quite up to the challenge.
To be honest, if the original Chef Curry had been able to fire almost nine threes every night, he would have racked up a few more points.
But there’s no way he and Steph are comparable.
Dell shouldn’t get too worked up over it.

It has to hurt a bit to see one of your boys outshine you in terms of abilities and statistics. But there has to be some comfort in knowing that you taught him the most of it.
After all, there’s no shame in not being as excellent as basketball’s finest shooter. Dell is most likely a proud father first and foremost.
Like his father, he is like his son. Except that in this situation, the son has excelled the father in every way.
