The Rams defeated the Lions 28-27 thanks to three touchdown passes by Staford. They were able to put up a big comeback win despite the poor gameplan and play calling, which was very close in comparison to what other teams are doing with their quarterbacks today.
The Rams and Lions traded haymakers in a back-and-forth affair on Sunday night. The Rams won 28 to 27, with three touchdown passes from quarterback Jared Goff.

Goff threw for 268 yards and came close to leading the Lions (0-7) to an upset victory in his first meeting with the Rams (6-1), who acquired him in a blockbuster trade for Stafford last winter.
The Rams were leading 25-19 when Goff drove the Lions to the Los Angeles 12 in the final minutes of the game, completing four third downs. Ramsey’s most recent game-changing play came on his 27th birthday, when he intercepted Goff’s inaccurate pass as Goff was being hit by the Rams’ other 2020 All-Pro, Aaron Donald.
Cooper Kupp led the Rams with 10 receptions for 156 yards and two scores, including the game-winning TD with 13:59 remaining. Stafford also threw a touchdown ball to Van Jefferson, who has 19 touchdown passes in his first seven games on the West Coast.
The Lions lost their 11th consecutive game after leaping out to a double-digit lead in a rare great start thanks to D’Andre Swift’s 63-yard catch-and-run touchdown on the first play. Kalif Raymond got 115 yards on six receptions.
Austin Seibert scored four field goals for the Lions, who also recovered an early onside kick and performed two successful fake punts in a strong special teams effort.
The Rams, on the other hand, held Goff’s offense out of the end zone in the last 57 minutes, rallying from a double-digit deficit to go up 42-0 at halftime under coach Sean McVay.
Goff is 0-14 without McVay as a head coach and has yet to win an NFL start.
In their previous four games, the Lions had gone scoreless in the first half three times, but their first possession resulted in their first touchdown since Week 2. Swift scampered past the Rams’ defense for his touchdown after Goff read a blitz and fired a short screen ball to him.
The Lions then humiliated the Rams’ special teams on two fakes, recovering an onside kick three plays before punter Jack Fox completed a fourth-down pass, giving them their first lead of the season.

After holding the Rams’ offense on downs late in the third quarter, Detroit grabbed a 19-17 lead, but Stafford converted two lengthy third downs before hitting Kupp for a touchdown early in the fourth.
