Remedy Entertainment is set to announce the sequel of its supernatural thriller, Alan Wake. The Xbox One and PC exclusive title was released in 2009 and received critical acclaims for its well-crafted storytelling, with a large focus on exploring psychological themes through narrative gameplay. This announcement comes eight years after the last release of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare which drew little fanfare but still managed to sell over 1 million copies worldwide.
Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake 2 will be its first project. The sequel to the psychological horror game will be released in 2019.
Alan Wake 2 was revealed at The Games Awards 2021 by publisher Epic Games Publishing and developer Remedy Entertainment. The sequel will be the Finnish developer’s first step into the survival game genre, and it will be released exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PC.
The introduction of Alan Wake 2 was accompanied by a cinematic video that focused on the protagonist while the world around him changed.
Despite the fact that we didn’t get to see how the game plays, the developer promises “a terrifying experience with traditional psychological horror components,” as well as perils that outnumber those in Bright Falls.
“It’s no secret that we’ve been clamoring for a chance to revisit Alan Wake’s narrative for years. All of our hard work has finally paid off. The stars have aligned in my favor. It’s happening right now, and we know the community is just as eager to watch Alan Wake’s new chapter emerge as we are “Sam Lake, the creative director, said.
“Alan Wake 2 is our first survival horror game, allowing us to go deeper than ever before in creating a dramatic atmosphere and a twisted, multifaceted, psychological plot.”
The developer also said that it would “go black” in order to concentrate on production, but that additional information about the game will be released in the summer of 2022.
Remedy published a remake of the original game earlier this year, with a PC version accessible exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
Alan Wake 2 will be released in 2023 for PC, Xbox One X/S, and PlayStation 5.
